Reducing SLED Mailing List By Encouraging Discussions Here

If you’ve subscribed to the SLED mailing list you know the horror potentially overwhelming flood of daily emails. The discussions are lively and collaborative but, oh boy, can they overwhelm your inbox. Some folks subscribe to the digest mode, others mark them read and peruse them later. We at the SL-Ed Blog would like to suggest another solution…why not move some of those discussions here? Posting to a blog might not be the right solution for urgent issues or quick reminders, but for bigger issues, discussions etc the blog is perfect.

Is there a Second Life education related issue that you’d like to see discussed here on the blog? A question you’re burning to get responses to? Leave a comment and we’ll get a post up right away. Or better yet, perhaps you’d like to become a regular contributor to the blog? Drop us a line letting us know what “beat” you’d like to cover and we’ll get you signed up.

**Update: A definite benefit of the SLED email list is that it’s searchable. Be sure to  check out this page to read past threads by date and topic.

    Honestly, I dont think the SLED list is “horrific”

    About a year ago, I started using google apps’ gmail interface to manage my email and domain (its free) - even though my email address is fire@eslteacherlink.co.kr, i still have the luxury of GMAIL’s wonderful storage and search capabilites. I dont delete, I search!

    - interface to sort through my mail. so if you are a SLED subscriber, try google apps - works for me!

    That is a great idea. What you could do as well, when you see a hot topic emerging, to just make a blog post about it and divert people to here.
